The SHRM student chapter (Society for Human Resource Management) was delighted to have Sharon Cohen, Global MBA Career Counselor and Adjunct Instructor as a guest speaker.
Many students are already familiar with
Sharon, as she
has
provided specialized career counseling and career services for MBA and MS students and alumni each passing
semester.

As an MBA Career Counselor and Adjunct Instructor, Sharon teaches workshops on global job search, career business psychology and social media strategy. She holds an MA in Counseling Psychology, is a member of the National Career Development Association and is nationally certified in Psychiatric Rehabilitation Counseling.
Prior to working with the Business Career Center, she held various roles in higher education, career advising, clinical counseling and mental health. Since joining the MBA team, Sharon’s work has been inter-disciplinary, spanning Global HR, Recruitment, and Project Management.
Her presentation focused on individual
Career Services, such as career coaching to attain professional goals
and manage one’s career.
Some of Sharon’s discussion topics included personal career assessment, exploration and goal-setting, job search and marketing oneself.
In particular, Sharon
explained how to develop a position statement,
plan a job search
and resume writing.
Additionally, she reviewed resources like the Career Network, Executive Coaching week, Interview
Stream, internships and the Graduate Business Association.
